Morrison DNA Project

October 2012

Edwin F. Holcombe, Jr.
Administrator, Morrison DNA Project

The Morrison DNA Project has continued to help us learn more about our Morrison origins with every new participant. Latest results can be found at the project website: www.geneticousins.com/morrison

What can we learn from the project?
Male Morrisons who share the same paternal ancestry will also share the same Y-DNA. Comparing a family's Y-DNA with others in the project will show which other Morrisons are in the same extended family.

What do these matches tell us?
If one or more of the matches has a documented link with a location in Scotland, then a participant will learn the area in Scotland that his family was from.

What have we learned about where Morrisons lived in Scotland so far?
The included map shows where some of the groups in the project probably originated. Most of the groups have documented connections to the locations shown, but some are based on near DNA matches with other region-specific surnames.
